[Insert requisite, "Wow, it's been forever," schpiel here.]
Okay, with that out of the way, I think I want to buy a laptop when I get my (very, very healthy) income tax return. There are computers around here, but I've been getting less and less time on them, so something of my own to cart around would be very nice.
All the more so since Bomber-kun's sister and I are developing a big fat fanfic project that I just realized today I have a perfect webspace for that I'm not doing much with. *kisses to
eag*
For anyone who's curious, it will be a large scale crossover between Fushigi Yuugi (which you all know what is, I assume) and
Harukanaru Toki no Naka De 3, a Japan-only dating sim for the PS2 by Koei, the people who haven't yet brought America the somewhat better known Angelique. For an idea of why we chose to cross it over with FY, have a bit of synopsis of the Harutoki games:
"[Main character] is a regular Japanese school girl minding her own damn business when she and two of her friends get dropped into a strange, magical version of ancient Japan. Her two friends and six others become her hachiyou, in four pairs to represent each of the four gods. Together, these nine must blah blah save the world, blah blah love love."
This is Rizvern, the Genbu of Earth member of the group. He's the last survivor of a village that was burned down because they were weird and blond and considered to be demonic. Does he remind you of anyone? You won't be the only one.
I was introduced to this game and it's fantastically amusing set of characters by my co-author in this endeavor. She didn't much care for the earlier Harutoki games, as they're sticklers for that dating game concept of
compatibility, in spectacularly anal-retentive fashion. Harutoki 3's love-love endings, however, in a departure from the norm, are far more about the paths you take and the things you say, rather than what sort of flower you give the object of your affection. It's also the first in the series where the main character fights at her companions' side, and also the first to give you a
regular female party member (that isn't the main character, that is), who also has a possible ending you can pursue.
I'll edit in my lovely co-author's short summary later, as I don't have it on me right at the moment. I'll say this much to start: The early part of the story will involve the Harutoki 3 cast in a post-series bookworld. There won't exactly be LOADS of familiar faces early on, although we're incooporating enough to not completely drive off the much larger group of fans that we have any chance of getting to read this. In Harutoki 3, however, the main character aquires the ability to time travel. It will be getting quite a lot of exercise.
Anyway, that's what I've been up to. ^_^ I've also got a new fantasy idea to develop, which is nice, as original story ideas are hard for me to come by. Argh, world-building, thou art my baaaaane!
